okchistory.com - your one stop for Oklahoma City history . . .

August 17, 2008: New! Something new showed up on Oklahoma City's streets this week. Learn what on the This Week in Oklahoma City History page!

Also new: A listing of more than 50 Oklahoma history books that delve into the city's culture, crime, politics and development at OKC History Books. And in the near future, be sure to visit our all new www.okchistory.com with easier to browse articles and links.

Hosts Steve Lackmeyer and Jack Money are veteran, award-winning journalists whose first book, OKC Second Time Around, was honored with nominations for best non-fiction and best design at the 2007 Oklahoma Book Awards (the book received the award for best design). Their next book, on the history on the Skirvin Hilton Hotel, is expected in stores later this year. We hope that while exploring Oklahoma City's history you will consider adding these and future titles to your library.

With the debut of www.okchistory.com in July 2007, we introduce features that will be updated week to week, including "OKC History's Attic," photos and stories you won't find elsewhere; "OKC Forgotten," a slideshow of a city many wouldn't recognize today; "News," with links to stories in publications about important historic city sites and events; a list of OKC history books; and links to other sites relating to Oklahoma City history.
